Compound Interest – the end of the road

HMRC have issued their latest brief following the Supreme Court judgment in the case of Littlewoods Retail Limited and others which was handed down on 1 November 2017. The Supreme Court found in favour of HMRC, ruling that the statutory interest paid to the claimants was adequate and it isn’t necessary for compound interest to be paid. HMRC’s brief advises that the decision is now final and related claims/appeals should now be withdrawn.
